The Education Assistant diploma programme is offered at the following campuses:

Programme Description This is a programme developed especially for the educational environment. It is intended to address the vast changes that have taken place in Special Education in recent years. It has been fully registered with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
This programme is a full time intensive 1095 hour course consisting of both classroom and practical training. This programme has been condensed from a 2 year to a 1 year programme in order to accommodate student preferences.
The Education Assistant provides a valuable service in an area of support, designed to meet the needs of students with special needs. The role varies from situation to situation, but some of the more frequent assignments include assistance with the delivery of special education programmes, resource centre assignments, kindergarten assistance, school-to-community support and one-on-one assistance for hard-to-serve children.

Practical Internship Experience Over 400 hours of practical experience will take place in local elementary and secondary schools, with Board approval and under the direction of the principals and teachers involved.

- First Aid/CPR/WHMIS
- Non-violent crisis intervention (CPI)
- Certificate in Autism
Admission Requirements Grade 12 or equivalent, demonstrated English, communication and comprehension skills. Students must have the equivalent standing at the general level in English.
Student Evaluations and Requirements for Graduation: To receive your diploma from KLC you must fulfill all course requirements to the satisfaction of school administration.
This includes successful course and work placement completion and tuition paid in full.
All students will be required to maintain an average academic standing of 75%. Students must pass both theory and practical components of the course. Internship assessment will be completed by the host placement. A diploma is granted when all course work is successfully completed.
